Repsol and Repsol Foundation Chairman, Antonio Brufau, presented to Don Felipe the Repsol Foundation’s Entrepreneurs Fund, the first private equity fund in Spain devoted to entrepreneurs seeking energy efficiency

During the hearing, held at the Zarzuela Palace, the Prince of Asturias has exchanged views with representatives of the winning projects of the first edition of Entrepreneurs Fund Repsol Foundation.

Antonio Brufau has stressed that this initiative supports entrepreneurship, foster talent, creates jobs and promotes economic development, and that "entrepreneurs are one of the foundations on which rests the future".

The seven selected in the first round projects pursue greater energy efficiency in several policy areas, ranging from power generation to distribution and end use.

Each project receives technological, business and legal advice and financial support of between 6,000 and 12,000 € per month.

In the first edition over 400 applications were received and the second call ended with 479 proposals, representing 17% more than the last.

His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias, has received in the Zarzuela Palace to representatives of the winning projects of Repsol Entrepreneurs Fund Foundation. Repsol Chairman and its Foundation, Antonio Brufau, Don Felipe has presented this new initiative, the first private equity fund for energy efficiency entrepreneurs Spain.

The Entrepreneurs Fund Repsol Foundation is part of Repsol's strategy to promote the development of innovative projects in the field of energy and integrated within their commitments to improve the sustainability of current energy models.

After the Prince of Asturias to present the project, Repsol has stressed that this initiative supports entrepreneurship, foster talent, creates jobs and promotes economic development, and that "entrepreneurs are one of the foundations on which rests the future" . Later, Don Felipe has exchanged views with representatives of the winners of the first edition of Entrepreneurs Fund and members of the Board of Repsol Foundation.

The projects selected by the Fund Entrepreneurs receive technical, business and legal advice as well as a monthly cash prize of between 6,000 and 12,000 euros per project during the period necessary for its development, which can last up to 24 months. They also have a physical space to develop its activities in the Repsol Technology Centre located in Móstoles.

Repsol business projects intended to be developed, sponsored by the Entrepreneurs Fund Repsol Foundation, will improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the Spanish economy.

Winning projects

The projects selected in the first round of Entrepreneurs Fund seek greater energy efficiency in several policy areas, ranging from power generation to distribution and end use. They are:

    • Gas diffusers, high efficiency, in liquids. Entrepreneur: D & B Technology, SL
    • Temperature monitoring of power distribution lines. Entrepreneur: (FOCUS) Fiber Optics Consulting Services and Technologies, SL
    • Microsystems for detecting microorganisms. Entrepreneur: Micro4ener.
    • Osmoblue. Production of electricity from waste heat at low temperature. Entrepreneur: Anna Laromaine Dahan and Elodie.
    • System continuously variable power transmission. Entrepreneur: Powertrack.
    • Wave turbine for generating electrical energy from the waves. Entrepreneur: Sendekia SL
    • Vortex-Turbine by vorticity piezoelectric. Entrepreneur: Deutecno, SL

Sendekia projects and focus on Deutecno generation systems more efficient electricity from renewable sources, wave (produced by the movement of the waves) and wind, respectively. The proposed Osmoblue, developing a system for the production of electricity from waste heat at low temperature.

In the field of transport and distribution of energy, the draft Focus allows temperature monitoring in networks of power distribution.

Proposals aimed at improving energy efficiency in the industrial sector are projects D & B Technology, which develops diffusers gases, high transfer rate in liquids, of Micro4ener, with a new sensor for detecting online bacterial growth, and Powertrack, which develops a continuous transmission system and reversible power.
